Bhaga Aditya covers the degrees of the Zodiac that align with Tropical Sagittarius. For more on how to calculate Adityas, see my post, Calculating Adityas & Their Correspondence to Tropical Signs

Bhaga

BHAGA means “Dispenser”. We all have a share, an allotment that we receive in life. We have our fair share and “fair” does not mean equally distributed. Fair share is what a person is merited. We must earn our share. Everyone getting everything equally is not healthy and does not work. Individuals must contribute for their own benefit and development. With Bhaga, there is a need to use will, intelligence, creativity. Active contribution is a great healing force, it heals our lack of self-worth and our psyche. It’s not possible to heal our wounds if we are not contributing. Seva, which means ‘service’ is a major part of many spiritual traditions. Those who do not contribute and receive the same share as those who do contribute, will decay. No contribution is equal to no merit.

Bhaga is connected to prowess, intense focus, courage and strength. Bhaga is related to marriage because he has the desire to have fortune in marriage.

This Aditya is important to maintain authority, power and achievement.

Wife is Siddhi which means “perfected”. Sons are:

  1. Mahuman which means ‘greatness’
  2. Vibhu – Existing in an expansive state, abundant state.
  3. Prabh – existing in a supreme state. Existing in a state that has not been altered by ignorance.

Three sons have the power for greatness, expansion, abundance and not be stuck in ignorance.

When healthy, people are connected to the truth of Shiva, which is things must end to make way for growth. When Bhaga is afflicted and situations in life begin to deteriorate or come to an end, the person can fall apart because they do not grasp the importance of Shiva.

These people dispense when they appreciate the importance of loss or not getting something. When they must give something up, they can appreciate the transfer of ownership.

Afflicted, there is great selfishness and a person will want to hold onto the biggest share they can.

They possess the toughness to not give something to someone when it is not merited.

Bhaga can become great and expand whatever he is involved in.

He can stick to commitments to achieve something and get somewhere.

Bhaga dispenses blessings and receives them. If afflicted, the person will be sitting around, not being disciplined and waiting for that blessing to come.

They have the ability to benefit from loss and sacrifice. They can take energy away from things that are not part of their goals. They get up and make life happen. The eyes are intense. Intense focus and discipline.

Bhaga people want to make something of themselves. The Siva aspect is important. Most of the time, we don’t get what we want because we are not giving up certain things. Bhaga is a very negating Aditya, where it can negate certain things that won’t help get to where it wants to go. It is an Aditya of taking things away.

Bhaga is the love of focus. Focus is what leads to expansion. By focusing with will and attention, the person gets to a place where they can expand something. Opening up to everything leads to distractions. Focusing helps you to value yourself more.

Ayu Rishi

Ayu Rishi

The Rishi is a wise sage who see the Truth and creates the Divine Law of the Aditya. He walks behind the Chariot. Rishis are ruled by Jupiter.

Ayu means “life” and “to take possession of”. Throughout life we take possession of things and take ownership over our lives, habits and ideals. When healthy, we take ownership over every aspect of our life.

Law of Intelligent Will, it determines the share we will have. All Will means is TO FOCUS. Taking the energy away from things that don’t matter and focusing it on what odes.

Bhaga represents the will to evolve consciousness. He knows how to make things happen. JUST DO IT! Just use your will! We don’t need to learn ‘how”, just use the will with determination, conviction, and intelligence. If we decide to use our will intelligently, we don’t have to go on YT and search how to do it. We will figure it out and will not stop. The most important ingredient for success progressing consistently over time.

How fast do we move forward equals how fast we take our energy away from everything else and focus.

If we do not like our lives, with Ayu important, all we have to do is use our will in an intelligently focused way and we can rapidly change it. Ayu can rapidly change our life through manifesting with will.

Sphurja Rakshasa

Rakshasa 6

The Rakshasa is a demon that pushes the Chariot from behind. Rakshasas are ruled by Saturn. Rakshasas represent our inner demons that we must heal and overcome. The anger of the Rakshasa is a driving force for change.

Sphurja means Thunder. Sphurja is Vidyut’s brother. We hear the thunder after we see lightning a loud, smashing, booming sound. Two powers, the Earth and the electrical force in the clouds, come together with a loud force.

The fact that Saturn rules this Aditya reveals opposing forces are present and we must consistently work on problems for what we want. Saturn is something that is not working the way we need it to so it is an opposing force. Saturn rules separation and we are separated from things because of opposing forces. Saturn rules delays because we must overcome the opposing forces.

The more we become who we are, our force gets stronger and that will meet with conflict to some degree.

We get the lightning flash of inspiration at Vidyut (Amzu) and now we have the thunder sound at Sphurja. That means now we must go out in the world and implement our will. Whatever the inspiration was, now we must live it and overcome the opposition that most certainly will manifest. Before we had the realization of Vidyut, we created a life and now the force in us that says “Yes! This is what is right for me!” is colliding with the force of reality, the Earth Sign reality of all the limitations of living that reality. Now the battle begins between the force of what we need to do for ourselves and the life we’ve already built. Now we must move forward in life and the ability to do that is given by Sphurja. We must fight for our new Truth.

Sphurja will not give anything easy. We want the fortune of Bhaga, a better life? We must fight for it. Must fight for it with Saturn because we might lose, we must be willing to lose it all because even if we win, we will still lose something from our former life. We must fight like you have nothing to lose. This is why this is the Aditya that gives cancer, because at that point, we have nothing to lose. Cancer is the last opportunity for healing. That is the Saturn part, we have nothing to lose, and that will help us fight better battles.

Mars’ force is strength of will and courage to deal with opposing realities and Mars is exalted in Bhaga. Who is going to win? Our past reality created by our actions? The Adityas of Saturn (Bhaga and Pushan) are karmic, we built that Aditya, we built that life, and now we want to change it. We are fighting against the very life we built in the first place. We created the prison (Saturn) and now we have to break out of it. This is the Aditya/Rakshasa where we are trying to step into a new life.

Sphurja force is to fight for what is truly right within ourselves. Earth Adityas are long-lasting. Even moveable Earth of Bhaga, this is the Earth that we mold and change. Here is where we change concrete reality.

The most beautiful way the Sphurja force works is internally. All the stuff that is wrong in our lives is wrong because we created it. An inner shift must manifest, the energy within yourself must blast through our weaknesses, fears, bad habits, etc. The righteous force within us must say, “NO MORE OF THIS!!”

An opposing force within us is opposing the truth of who we are. The Sphurja force is what is battling and shifting the false ideas within us. If we get that force to rise, we can heal cancer, we can heal anything.

All the psychological wounds are something we believe to be true. It is a righteous force to fight these untruths. What if, when the force rises, it doesn’t have the strength to overcome all those false ideas, then the allergies, pains and/or sickness will stay.

The force that fights for what is true is Mars. It is anger and it is beautiful. We think of anger as a negative force but it is the Divine force saying, “This is the Truth!” “I will not listen to the lies anymore.”

With any problem we’re having, we can try to cultivate the knowledge that Truth is logical. All the other behaviors, illnesses, sadness, anxiety  is psychotic behavior. It is getting pushed back into memories of childhood where there was no power to resist. Psychosis cannot exist in a logical environment. “Am I doing the right thing based on what ACTUALLY happened?”

Battles are won with logic, that is why we have strategy. Books have been written on battle strategy. We are either responding illogically to something, therefore creating problems where there are none, or we are expecting something to work that will not work. Through logic, embrace the Truth. What do master manipulators do? They get us wrapped up in our psyches, emotions, fears and needs that prevent us from seeing the concrete Truth.

The way you defend yourself against your own unhealthy actions is logic.

Karkotaka Naga

Nagas

The Nagas unfetter the Chariot so it can move forward. They are ruled by the Moon and represent the subconscious and underworld.

Karkotaka means Hard-Shelled One and the Fruit of the Bael Tree, very sacred to Shiva. It purifies its surroundings. The fruit has a hard shell and smells like roses. Sometimes, it is a rarely used word for sugarcane.

The essence of this Naga is purification. He is black with a crescent moon on his chest, one of the strongest Nagas and his venom is the most toxic of all the Nagas. He is at the front of Vasuki’s (Dhata’s) army. The idea is a battle that purifies, our spiritual battle which is purifying ourselves.

At Karkotaka, we overcome our weaknesses. He purifies our environment. When we begin to contribute to make the world better, we develop self-love and self-worth. A quality exists within us that desires to purify, to do good deeds, to make up for past transgressions. Purifying our environment frees us from negative thinking and harmful actions.

When this Naga is afflicted, a person has no interest in making up for misdeeds. The person may try to make amends and contribute on the outside but once they get what they want, they go right back to what they were doing. Their environment is disgusting and/or a disaster.

Bhaga is also connected to marriage like Aryama. The force of purifying the environment becomes an integral part of marriage. When we get married, we must have this force healthy so we want to benefit others and the world in general. If we do not want to contribute beneficially, we have no business being with a partner. Only a fool would marry someone who refuses to make amends for their mistakes in the relationship. Some people will not even say, “I’m sorry” when they mess up. It is a noble quality to want to make amends for harmful actions so we can live with ourselves.

Arishtanemi Yaksha

Nature Spirit

The Yaksha is a Nature Spirit that harnesses the Chariot to the horses which represent power. Yakshas are ruled by Mercury.

Ahrishta, with the long A, means “this cannot be hurt”. Nemi means “rim of a wheel”, so Arishtanemi means, “The wheel with the rim that cannot be broken”.

The only real problem with chariots during these times is that the wheel could break. A chariot where the wheels cannot break means having a chariot that is invincible. Nothing is going to stop this chariot.

With Arishtanemi, there is no reason for progress to stop. These people are unstoppable. Nemi also carries the connotation of being encircled by something. Imagine being encircled by something where you cannot be hurt, that is Arishtanemi.

A time existed when Yakshas were considered to have a lot more force and power. When Hinduism went into a less colorful age, with Brahma/Vishnu/Shiva, Rama and Krishna, it got boiled down to those five beings. In the focus on those five aspects of Hinduism, a lot has been forgotten. What has been forgotten is the psychological backbone of Hinduism. Hinduism is extremely psychologically developed. Older Hinduism was extremely psychologically sophisticated with all the nuances of our tormented being.

The way to heal our emotional turmoil is explained through these beings, Yakshas and Gandharvas, etc. AND ITS ALL BEEN FORGOTTEN and replaced with, “I’m going to be a Krishna freak or a Rama freak, etc.”

We are attempting to rediscover the psychological healing embedded in the myths through Astrology. Without astrology, we would have no hope in rediscovering the important meanings. All these beings have been forgotten or reduced.

Most of the day, we are playing with Mercury, which is the Yaksa force. To move forward, we must use the Yaksa force, in everything we do.

The important point is to move forward. With Arishtanemi, there is never a reason to not move forward. Here is where we realize there is no reason to stop. The wheels are perfect, the only thing that can stop is the driver which is us. The good of the Yakshas is to move forward spiritually.

Kubera is King of the Yakshas and rules the North, a very auspicious direction.

Arishtanemi and Tarkshya are always together. You take your inspirations (Jupiter – Amzu) and you walk out the door with them. Now you are dealing with the hard reality (Saturn). The reality of Time which is Saturn. The inspiration of Jupiter in Amzu gets tested right away in Bhaga. There is never a real reason to stop moving forward. The journey to a greater expression of love is a brutal journey. The greater the inspiration, sometimes steeper the mountain.

Everyone can be unstoppable regarding what is truly important. So many people are not living out the potential of their joy, love and wisdom because they are finding reasons to stop, they are not understanding this Truth. They think maybe there is a chance of failure, maybe I’m not supposed to do this. They believe in lies that make us think the chariot can be stopped.

With this Aditya, there is only the choice of continuing to move forward or giving up. Are you someone who cannot be broken, cannot be stopped? Or are you literally looking for excuses to fail. The Tarkshya part cannot fail. That is the true part of ourselves. Everything your psychological wounds want to do, however, will be stopped and will fail.

Nothing can stop the creative spark of our soul force that comes out of Amzu. That’s the one thing we cannot fail in. 99% of the stuff out there we will fail in. Most people are chasing desires around psychological wounds and failing. Whatever we do based on needs from emotional wounds, the wheels on will break.

Any thoughts against our inspiration, we must ignore. If we don’t follow our inspiration, we are chasing the passions of our wounds and finding disappointment.

Urnayu Gandharva

Huhu Gandharva

The Gandharva is a warrior-musician demi-god who sings in front of the Chariot, inspiring it forward.

Urna means Wool. More specifically, a thread of wool. Ayu means Life. So “Thread of Life” or
“Blanket of Life”.

In some ways, we’re hanging onto life by a thread. Life can be distinguished so easily. It doesn’t take much to cut that thread, yet why aren’t more people dying all the time? Because this Thread of Life that can be so easily cut, can only be cut when our time is up. Our time is up when the actions we are meant to do are no longer meant to be done and the fortune we’re meant to receive, which is Bhaga, is no more. As long as we have fate to receive and actions to do, nothing can cut that thread.

Being in touch with this Gandharva, this force of life, gives great will, great courage. As long as it is here, doing what it’s meant to do, nothing can kill you. When strong, there is no danger or fear around anything that one believes could kill them. The existence of life is not based on what we think it is. Nothing will kill us until the thread of life is time to be cut. If we just know, “I’m not going to die until my time is up,” that gives us a great ability to move forward. If we think we could die anytime then why would we leave the house? That’s no way to live.

It’s not just our thread of wool. It is interwoven into a blanket with everyone else’s thread. We cannot die until we’ve given all we need to give to those in our life and receive what we are meant to receive from others.

Are we in tune with that Truth? Have courage, have no fear, march forward. The point of this Gandharva is to not let the fear of death stop us from doing what is truthful to us. If people make decisions based on their fear of death, it ruins the quality of their life, that hurts more people. We need to understand what extinguishes life and what doesn’t, otherwise we are missing out on countless experiences that are helpful and nourishing to us and others.

Purvacitta Apsara

Apsara 2

The Apsara is a celestial nymph that gives us a feeling, an ambiance, a mood to do something. She dances in front of the Chariot to entice it forward. Apsaras are ruled by Venus.

Purvacitta is singled out as being very auspicious. Purva means “Before”. Citta means “what is in the mind”. So it means “An Earlier Perception”. We have foresight about something to create the mood, create the ambiance about something. She knows what feeling to create, she knows what feeling to awaken in a person.

Mars is exalted here and is the general that must fight the war. Mars must foresee what will happen on the battlefield before it happens. She has her foresight, then prepares the person emotionally. People don’t act on thoughts, they act on Apsara and Gandharva forces. If we have the foresight and need to share our foresight, the right thing to do is to get the person into a mood to change their direction.

She emotionally prepares others to accept the foresight they have. People with nice planets here have the gift of foresight and they use it. People who have Rahu here have gift of foresight but don’t trust in it or don’t use it to contribute. Foresight is worthless if we don’t take advantage of creating a feeling to allow for its acceptance.

She can arouse any kind of feeling based on foresight. The Apsara sees that if you continue down this road, such and such will happen. It is Purvacitta’ s job to get you off that road and onto a better road based on feeling. Purvacitta knows how to create that feeling in as gentle a way as possible.

We never know what we’re going to feel like in the future. One of the main reasons not to do predictions is because people will be in a different mood when the prediction happens. We should not set up people to live in the future with their present understanding.
