Vivisvan Aditya covers the degrees of the Zodiac that align with Tropical Leo. For more on how to calculate Adityas, see my post, Calculating Adityas & Their Correspondence to Tropical Signs

Vivisvan means “To Shine Forth” and “Shining in all directions”. Vivisvan was resurrected as a fetus. Another name is Martanda which means the embryo who died.

The original power of the Sun is “Clear Consciousness”. We can see everything. We have this clear consciousness of what we know and out of that comes the Shadow, which is dark and represents what we do not know. The Sun is intelligent and can see the Truth of things, the Clear Consciousness aspect of the Sun. What we are NOT focused on is in the Shadow and we DON”T know.

This Aditya has a specialization quality, he is the expert, the genius.

Vivisvan is Grandfather of Humankind this age.

Vivisvan had his rays cut down so he would not burn creation and become useful. This Aditya is the most USEFUL. Vivisvan has great capacity for knowledge and understanding for what it focuses on. It can be the genius and the most capable in that specialization.

Those with Vivisvan prominent tend to be non-threatening in general. A shamed or starved Mars there will be unpleasant and argumentative. The natural state of this Aditya is to be pleasant and useful.

Vivisvan’s children were Ashwini Kumars who were healers and great warriors. They have the ability to focus and work out the best strategy. The Ashwins come reveal how to win a battle thus making Vivisvan a strategic game player.

Vivisvan is the most useful and friendliest because he sacrificed his natural way of being so Creation and his wife could be with him.

Vivisvan can give a green thumb. He has the capacity to nourish, grow food.

He is the most human of all Adityas and the father of Manu (Mankind). Manu is the lawmaker. When this Aditya is strong, there is an investment in the well-being of human race. The person is invested in humanity. He has capacity to compromise for fairness and righteousness. When afflicted, laws are broken and no love for Humankind exists.

Vivisvan’s children are also Saturn and Yama who are connected to death and restraint. He does what is best for human race, not for any particular person. For a species to evolve and develop, we must have death. The quality of Saturn is knowing when to let something go. Saturn develops trust to hand over the reigns of power to the next generation.

Bhrigu Rishi

Pulaha Rishi

Bhrigu is the Father of Astrology. One of his children is Venus which is considered the best Astrologer.

Bhrigu means Divine Light. We have the Bhrigu Samita and Bhrigu Nadi techniques. Bhrigu gave the Manu Samhita to Mankind to show them the right laws to live by.

Bhrigu grew up very religious and spent a lot of time meditating.

He has a great capacity for healing, rejuvenation and restoring youth.

He can give the gift of writing and using words well.

Bhrigu’s blessings include great qualities of rejuvenation. When healthy, people will do things to rejuvenate their system. When used properly, the life force can rejuvenate our body.

Bhrigu has the power for celibacy and controlling the life force. People can act abnormally when their life force is imbalanced. Restoration of balanced life force can heal physically and emotionally. Bhrigu has the capacity to control, regulate and work with the Life Force.

The love of this Aditya is the Love of Humanity. The Law of this Aditya is the Law of Humankind. Has the power to interpret the spirit of the Law.

By following the laws of our culture and time, if we play them well, we get ahead of the game. Long-term prosperity comes from following the rules.

If afflicted, this Aditya causes outlaws and criminals. Some laws are outdated and no longer helpful to society. A political quality can exist here. Petitioning the laws of the game is a skill when this Aditya is good.

Vyaghra Rakshasa

Vyaghra Rakshasa

The Rakshasa is a demon that pushes the Chariot forward.

When it comes to the Adityas, we do not want to ignore the Rakshasa. If the Rakshasa is not managed correctly, the person will end up hurting themselves and others. Vyaghra means Tiger. Nirando is the son of Vyaghra and Nirando means no joy. This Rakshasa must be taken very seriously. His father was a sorcerer and he has the ability to change forms. Vyaghra also means possessing a magical ability to change form. This power can be used to hurt, harm and steal. He has unlimited capacity to trick and deceive. He will show up in a deceitful way, appearing as something he is not.

When examining Vivisvan, caution must prevail. In Mitra, an Air Aditya, the Rakshasa (Paurusheya) comes through like the wind, he does not remain so it’s no big deal. With the Earth element of Vyaghra, he remains as long as he can to work mischief.

Pathological Earth, which is Vyaghra, can be a long-term danger. His job is to kill and eat innocent beings. With an Earth Sign, the deception is so convincing, one cannot differentiate between acting and the truth. It’s like AI. People show up in a guise and there is no way to tell if it is real or not.

When this force is afflicted, their needs get met at the expense of everyone else. They can use laws in a manipulative way to get what they want. They don’t care that laws are for fairness and the protection of people. The rules and laws give the form. Vyaghra will put on a disguise and learn the rules of being that form.

Reaching the highest level of achievement in something is possible in this Aditya. He is the most skilled Aditya. Higher capacity exists in Vivisvan than Mitra because Vivisvan exalts Mercury. This Rakshasa can show up and learn whatever he needs to be whatever he needs.

Delighted planets here indicate a desire to improve the social structure. They want to benefit humanity. Opportunities exist  when we must embrace something in order to be a productive member of society but that is only a small part of our being, we are much more than that.

How is this person acting? With Vyaghra, we can act really well even though we have psychological wounds. Acting moves us forward and we will reap the consequences of how we act.

Whatever energy we carry to the door will be what is on the other side of the door. Act like we believe in fun and prosperity.

Sankhapala Naga

Naga 1

The Naga is ruled by the Moon and frees the chariot from its fetters so it can move forward.

Sankhapala means protector of the conch and it symbolizes the AUM vibration. The conch is also one of the four great treasures guarded by one of the Nagas. The sound of Source in creation, the Sound of what is true.

The capacity to hear the truth is how this Naga frees the chariot from its fetters. We can know the Truth or Falsehood. It’s Mercury’s job to differentiate the real from the unreal as his rulership of the Earth element. The force that allows us to discriminate among all the noise and discover the Truth is the Sankhapala Naga. It is an innate ability. All the Naga forces are innate abilities of human consciousness. They are innate abilities of the Moon, it is not necessary to develop them because they happen by themselves.

The Naga force is more prominent and powerful during New Moons, Full Moons and eclipses.

The condition of Sankhapala Naga determines how skilled we are in hearing the Truth. Are we gullible? Are our ears closed? Some people do not hear the Truth because they don’t listen.

If Vivisvan/Sankhapala is afflicted, take time to consider, analyze, assess and test. Try to find the truth in what is heard. Listen to Aum and the noises of the chakras.

If we are misusing the Rakshasa force, this can create serious problems because Rakshasas are monsters. Nagas are not monsters but part of our human consciousness that support our growth.

People need to get in touch with the Naga force more. For Sankhapala, get in touch with the part that says, “Yes, that is true for me!” We must distinguish the true sounds among all the false sounds in our lives and only hear the sound of what is true for us. This requires the absence of anxiety and the ability to fully relax for long periods of time.

Nagas are simple. If you remedy the Rakshasa force, all the other forces will come into play. Also follow the law of the Rishi. The Naga process is the most passive and natural. The Naga force is consciousness seeking perfection. It determines our responses, emotions and reactions to things because it also represents the energy. When all the other forces are not working in harmony, the Naga force becomes deranged, so we respond with this energy system that is not aligned to anything beautiful. It is a very delicate, responsive force.

Snakes have the most fear of any animal. The naga force lives in fear because it was cursed by the mother. The part of us that needs the mother’s love is the helpless part. When the other beings are unhealthy, the Naga is frightened. We must get behind the other beings to allow the Naga force to flow.

Asarana Yaksha

Yaksha 5

Asarana means “Moving towards shelter” and “moving towards support.” Moving from a state of helplessness to a state of support, of shelter. Moving towards a better place.

Contemplate the helplessness of humankind in the face of Mother Nature and natural disasters that can wipe us out. Out of that helplessness, we are doomed. The only way to move toward greater support is to move the chariot toward a greater expression of love. Another way is to seek social structures that provide shelter and fulfillment. In order to do this we must develop a greater expression of love. We cannot go to a social structure and act like a self-absorbed prick because no one will want anything to do with us.

This is a key place of social development. Basically, we have a need because we’re helpless, so we need others. When we expect benefits from a social structure, we must show up with an expression of love.

Asarana Yaksha will create the Love Energy that will get the help and support of society or the social structure.

Out of a state of helplessness, we realize we must cultivate a spiritual life. By finding support and shelter through spirituality we become more complete and connected. Upon developing wisdom, a person becomes more fulfilled and expresses connection to a greater degree. As we do this, we are moving away from a state of helplessness to support and protection.

If afflicted, the person won’t understand that to get more support or protection, it is necessary to become more connected and supportive. They won’t be able to harness their horses to that. If we are not getting what we need from people, we need to be better toward those people and then we’ll get what we need.

Most people can figure that out but if this is afflicted, this concept will not be understood. Problems in Vivisvan show a lack of acceptance toward oneself.

If yes, movement is made towards a greater experience of love. Sadly, many did not experience acceptance no matter what they tried. People grow up in environments where there is no acceptance, unfortunately, so the person has no basis to believe in it. Belief requires a basis. So what do we do if we don’t have a basis to believe that what we will do will work? Use Mercury and TRY IT!!! Through trying, the person will have experiences that will become a solid truthful basis.

By becoming more connected, supportive and a more loving being, we move away from a helpless state to a more secure, safe state. This is a HUGE part of Yaksha philosophy. Yakshas are ruled by Mercury. This is a place where we discover if we are harnessing our horses correctly. Feeling scared and helpless is the main reason we harness the chariot to the horse. Helplessness is a huge motivating force.

The idea that we won’t be OK somewhere is the idea we won’t be accepted. When healthy, the person knows they can approach someone in the proper way and have their need met.

Because Mercury is the planet of Yakshas, anytime we have afflictions to Mercury, it requires us to listen to our inner sounds. Once you cultivate the love energy, yes, you’ll get support from others, but you’ll also need less support from others. Need energy and love energy are on a polarity. When need energy goes up, love energy goes down and vice versa. At the end of the day, it’s all about self-development with this Yaksha. We can have our own Self to go to when we need support, protection and aid.

Ugrasena Gandharva

Gandharva 3

Ugra means fierce, scary. Ugrasena is a being that invokes terror, he is ferocious. Sena means missile, weapon, arrow. Something that can be projected over a long distance.

All the Gandharvas are warriors, but why is Ugrasena so scary? From Vivisvan, Mars is ruling the 3rd and 8th houses. Mars in Vivisvan can be very violent and scary. Mars in Vivisvan becomes conflictual at extreme levels. The Ganndharva force is fueled by Mars. Vivisvan is about supporting life and society yet has this scary Gandharva that possesses long-range missiles.

When war happens, Vivisvan’s goal is to minimize loss of life by targeting specific people so the opposing force loses its momentum. There are always key targets in war and it is Vivisvan that is focused on those key targets. Vivisvan wants to reduce loss of life on both sides.

The sheer ferocity of this Gandharva, when it is afflicted, will be used badly. Mars, which rules the Gandharva, force is starved. The force of minimizing causalities by taking out strategic targets gets lost when Mars is here.

When Ugrasena is healthy, strategic people don’t waste energy. He targets exactly what the problem is. They deal with the key problem. A confused Ugrasena will target symptoms rather than the core problem. The problem will never be solved if energy is going in many different directions.

The person can use the 8th house to get to the root cause. It’s the house of weakness and is the major weakness that could break everything. The gift of the 8th house is finding the weak spot to correct it. It’s about efficiency and not wasting energy, time or life. If afflicted, the person works inefficiently when dealing with problems.

Anumloca Apsara

Apsara 3

Similar to previous Apsara, which is Pramloca. They both have mloca, which means to fall, to slip, to dissolve. Anu means “after” and “to follow”. Pra means “away”. Anu means “alongside”. Pra means “first, foremost”. Anu means “subordinate”.

Anumloca means “slip alongside, to slip under, to slip into a subordinate position”. To slip into alignment or conformity. You are in the natural order of things.

Subordination is not a negative statement. We choose to what we will be subordinate. Apsaras are of the Water. Anumloca is a river and a smaller stream falls alongside the river and it becomes subordinate to the river.  It becomes a part of that river. It means when our energy moves alongside something with greater force.

It’s at Vivisvan where we decide which river we will flow with. What am I going to be subordinate to? Most people do not like the word subordination but it is not an option; we are going to be subordinate in this world. The question is, to what? We must be subordinate to the right things. By joining the big river, we will get to where we need to go faster. Eventually a tributary will dry up and disappear.  We won’t make it on our own.

Anumloca gives us the ability to follow. Being obedient is about dissolving our ego. When we become subservient to something and follow along, it helps us to reduce our ego. Going with the flow is the only way we will make it to the ocean. It’s important that we subordinate ourselves to the right things. It is a terrible mistake to subordinate ourselves to the wrong things. This Apsara gets us in the mood to move alongside something that feels right. “I don’t have to scramble or do it all on my own. I can go with the flow of something that has momentum. Something that works that makes me and my life better.”

We go around the circle and at Pramloca we dissolve what is Not Self and then come to Anumloca, so now what are you going to follow with this New Self? The Apsara Anumloca says” just flow with this”.

If afflicted, it is difficult to hear where we should flow. It can be hard to know, do I trust this feeling? Do I follow this? It takes strength to surrender and go with the flow.

We cannot live in this world without following someone or somebody. We can follow the law or an ideology. A bird knows how to use the current of the wind to fly more effortlessly. To get the things we need in life, which is Earth, we have to decide what we will follow. The only way to get somewhere is to have our ego subservient to that greater thing. Subservience doesn’t mean slavery, but by following a stronger force, the current will take us to the right destination. Those who cannot do that are stuck. No ships sailed anywhere without following the currents.
