First House/Ascendant
Saturn’s purpose in transiting the first house is to make the person aware of the importance of time. Saturn rules time as Kala and Kronos. Saturn will force the person to allocate and plan their days otherwise they will waste time and not have enough for themselves. They teach the person to value those precious moments and leisure time they have to themselves.
Saturn transiting the first will cause a person to rid themselves of everything that does not support their path or their individuality. What is no longer part of them, they will shed. Sometimes this happens voluntarily and sometimes those things are taken out of our lives whether we want it or not. Those things are taken or expire because they no longer reflect who we really are. The native can leave their big house that is too much time to take care of and move into a smaller condo. They can get rid of clutter, old clothes, furniture, books and anything else that is taking up space and takes too much time to care for.
Saturn transiting the first can cause some illness if the person is already unhealthy or old. Due to the illness, the person becomes much more aware of their health and mortality and takes steps to limit unhealthy food and activities which is another aspect of cutting things out of our life.
Saturn transiting the first house will cause a person to become firmly set and more established on the path they have chosen for the next 30 or so years. If the path changes, it does so slowly and methodically. During this two-and-a-half-year transit, an old Self dies and a new one reemerges. They will do the work that is more in alignment with their natural individuality.
Example: Bill Gates started Microsoft on 4/4/1975 when Saturn transited his first house.
Example: Oprah Winfrey’s talk show became syndicated on 9/8/1986 and she became a millionaire.
Example: Prince’s first single to hit #1 on Billboard 100 on 7/7/1984 with Saturn transiting ASC “When Doves Cry”.
Second House
Saturn transiting the Second House will release some responsibilities by revealing some are more trouble than they are worth. The Second House denotes family responsibilities, close friends and accumulated wealth. Saturn here will give long-term possessions and responsibilities after those which are extraneous have been purged.
This transit can separate the native from family and close friends who are no longer intended to be part of their lives because they are not reflective of the native’s True Self. The True Self is the Sun and Saturn is the son of the Sun. These two planets work together but they are also enemies. Saturn gets rid of what is no longer part of the person’s unique essence (The Sun) but the ego, which is also Saturn, does not want to let go of anything. The ego hurts when something to which it is attached is taken away even though whatever was taken by Saturn, is no longer part of the person in the ultimate sense.
The Second House rules food and our environment. Saturn here can purge certain elements of our diet and make out environment more spartan with less frivolous distractions.
Example: Brad Pitt’s legal troubles with Angelina Jolie began when Saturn transited Second House.
Third House
A rather beneficial transit for Saturn as the indications of Saturn improve throughout the transit. Indicates a long-term strategy for self-promotion and self-assertion. Relationships with subordinates or any hired employees improve. Long-term development of skills and release of frivolous hobbies that take up too much time.
Relationships with siblings and associates go through a purge but afterward, the native is left with better relations and these connections are long-term.
Saturn is lazy and wants to do only what is necessary. When he transits the Third House of self-effort, he separates the person from adversities they would otherwise be obliged to overcome.
Saturn will eliminate extraneous distractions regarding recreational activities to allow the native to focus on something that really matters to them and what they strongly desire to promote.
Fourth House
This is a Reward Transit. The Fourth House is where we are rewarded for taking care of our health and overcoming enemies and competitors. If we have not been aligning ourselves with nature, represented by the Sixth House, Saturn transiting the Fourth House can cause health problems.
This transit can cause some depression or melancholy feelings and resentment of the past due to Saturn releasing negative feelings, regrets and resentments held onto for revenge or self-sabotage. Saturn’s transit through the house of our emotional foundation emphasizes releasing what should not be a part of that foundation.
This transit can cause the mother to fall ill or the relationship with her to be strained.
It can also cause home repairs due to old age, wearing down and breaking. Vehicles can also have parts that are old in need of replacement or the native can purchase a car that is old and breaking down. The person can sell their vehicle because it is more trouble than it is worth.
Fifth House
Saturn transiting here will give long-term effects with one’s children and creative projects. The person will also have some trouble with their children and they will be confronted with certain attitudes they will be obliged to let go of in regards to their children. Sometimes the children can leave home for school or other reasons depending on the health of the indicators of children in the birth chart. The children can become ill or have health issues. The person can also want to do the least amount of work necessary for child-rearing and children become a chore rather than a delight.
This transit slows down the spiritual practices or the native can drop some spiritual techniques that are no longer working or had never worked.
A time of long-term investments and shedding trivial, frivolous investments.
Some relationships with students and clients can come to an end or there are delays in acquiring new students or clients. Those that remain are long-term.
Sixth House
Critical House Transit. Saturn is a planet of doing great things because Saturn rules the ability to be alone and slog through tedious, boring work. In order to do great things, we must do the tedious tasks necessary and forego social interaction to produce work that comes from our true inspiration indicated by the Sun. When we can work in the function of our inspiration, that is when we do great things that beneficially impact the lives of others.
The Sixth House is the House of health and Saturn rules over the function of getting rid of toxins. Saturn rules the colon in the body where a high percentage of diseases originate. A well-disposed Saturn in the Birth Chart reveals a person who can withstand a lot of pain, either physical and emotional, and someone who can let things go when they no longer serve.
Saturn transiting the Sixth House is when we get more serious about improving our health and getting rid of bad habits that harm our health. This can be due to a health issue that forces us to focus on our health. The Sixth House also indicates problem-solving and Saturn transiting here will give us the long-term conviction of getting rid of burdens that cause problems in our lives.
Saturn can also have us pay off debt when it transits the 6th. We realize many extraneous debts that can be paid and are no longer necessary to support our lives.
Seventh House
This is a Reward Transit. Depending on the Birth Chart, this transit can cause marriage or problems in a romantic relationship or both. A time of releasing aspects of a romantic or spousal relationship that are no longer working. Separation from spouse or significant other due to work or disagreements. Depending on the birth chart and the strength of the relationship, the primary romantic relationship can come to an end if it is no longer reflecting and supporting who the person really is. But overall, this transit usually causes some problems in relationships. If the couple gets through the problems, their relationship is astonishingly long-term.
In some cases, this transit can cause marriage because it is a long-term commitment. The couple understand they really love each other no matter the problems.
Example: Person born on 21 September 1990 @04:04 in Paris, France married on 14 July 2021 while Saturn transited Seventh House.
Example: Person born on 2 March 1969 married on 19 May 2008 while Saturn transited Seventh House.
Eighth House
This is a Reward Transit. We reap the rewards of focusing on our responsibilities and tedious work that is required to move forward in our career, power and influence. Saturn transiting the Eighth House is also a time when a person changes their career or gets a major promotion or gains more worldly influence in some way. It is a very significant time for the path of career. We can reap rewards from hard work and simultaneously feel like we are done with certain aspects of our career and completely change it, or move in a different direction within the same career.
The Eighth House is a house of trust and bonding. Saturn here can cause some breaks with others due to betrayal of trust. The betrayal can be minimal or severe depending on the Birth Chart.
If in a relationship, the person’s partner can undergo a reduction in income or lose some possessions that were too much responsibility.
Ninth House
Another transit to a house of identity, a house of Dharma, a place where we follow our divine inspiration that is unique to each one of us. Like Saturn transiting the First House/Ascendant, this transit brings about issues around ridding ourselves of anything that does not support our greater vision of our life, our purposeful action on a path that should ultimately give divine fulfillment.
It can be a time where we become more focused on a belief system we want to follow and devote our lives, a philosophy of life we want to build. Before that happens, however, Saturn will whittle away at aspirations that are no longer part of who we are, part of our being. Saturn will give us adversities with teachers, spiritual mentors, higher education. By dealing with these adversities, we will come to understand what we desire to keep and what we desire to let go of.
Saturn can also delay higher education or joining some spiritual or religious order, or studying a philosophy, which gives us time to ponder whether we really want it or not. The lessons of Saturn are not vainglorious, it is a time of shedding and leaning out our belief system that guides our philosophical platform.
A person can also become weary of certain cultural norms and strive to transform them into something more useful. A rejection of certain ways of their upbringing from their parents or a separation or estrangement from the parents can occur.
Tenth House
Critical House Transit. Saturn transiting the Tenth House will be a time when we become more focused on the great things we want to do and get rid of distractions. We will not be bothered by doing tedious or boring work to move forward in our career or chosen path. We usually avoid extraneous social interactions because of worldly responsibility or career ambitions. This is a time of doing great things for the benefit of people outside of family and friends or the benefit of the world at large.
Saturn can cause problems with the father’s health. It can also cause disagreements and adversities with one’s boss or supervisor.
Eleventh House
A two-and-a-half-year period of setting long-term goals and making long-term social connections. Also, getting rid of social connects that are frivolous, draining and sabotaging. We will spend time in social circles that are productive and beneficial but overall, less time is spent socializing.
Saturn here can cause separation from eldest sibling or eldest sibling falls ill or there are problems with eldest sibling.
Transiting Saturn through the Eleventh House is actually a fairly good placement that can move your life along at a faster pace because Saturn causes delays in the delay house, so it delays delays, like two negatives equal a positive.
The Eleventh House is a growing house where the significations of Saturn get better as the transit progresses so the person is able to temper and release unwanted desires that cause stress.
Twelfth House
Saturn moving through the Twelfth House either will cause the person to pay off their debt or incur more, depending upon the state of Saturn and the Twelfth House in the Birth Chart. It can indicate more expenses around health issues, the eldest sibling or removing damages caused by age in the home or anywhere else. Saturnian problems will prompt the person to rid themselves of these burdens and what is causing stress. The Twelfth House and Saturn have very similar connotations because Saturn rules getting rid of waste and anything that is damaging and the Twelfth House indicates the same thing. If Saturn is well-disposed in the Birth Chart, Saturn will give a resolution to problems and help the person pay off debt.
This transit can also produce an anti-societal effect meaning we can remove ourselves from society for whatever reason. It may be due to health problems or just wanting more alone time. Saturn is, in fact, the supreme loner and the Twelfth House indicates retreats and places where we are confined or do not participate in society.
We can retire and give up our responsibilities if we are the right age or have the needed resources during this transit.
The lesson this transit teaches is that if we are taking care of Saturn’s indications, Saturn will ultimately unburden us from that which causes stress, anxiety or depression. If we avoid the Saturnian calling, we will be obliged to put extra energy and money to meet the demands of Saturn.
It is the end of a cycle of Saturn. It is one type of ending because the Saturn return is an ending and a new beginning and the transit of Saturn through the 12th is an ending, the transit of Saturn through the First House is a new beginning with all things Saturnian. It is an end to how the person sheds the extraneous and unnecessary, an end to how the person withstands suffering and deals with boredom and/or depression.
